Growing in Faith

Sunday School

When a child is baptized, the whole community of faith promises to help that child grow in faith. One way that happens is through Sunday school. Sunday School is a strength of our faith community, and together we can help it remain strong and grow. Here are some opportunities to serve in Sunday School. Working solo or in teams, each one of these areas is designed to be “do-able” and not overwhelming. And remember, helping with Sunday school is an opportunity for anyone, not just parents.

  • Sunday School coordinator(s)
  • Working with Sunday School team and pastor to schedule events and communicate with parents and families.
  • Helping find substitutes
  • Music/Events Coordinator(s)
  • Plan music and work with kids to sing at Sunday services
  • Christmas program
  • Family Evens Coordinators(s)
  • Plan family events
  • Plan holiday crafts
  • Coordinate visits to Sunset Home, other outreach opportunities
  • Sunday School Teachers/Room helpers
  • Do fun stuff with kids. Teach about God’s love.
  • Resources and training will be provided

During a children’s message in worship recently, the kids were asked what did they like best about Sunday school. Many of them replied, “our teachers!” You can make a difference in a young person’s life by being a part of Sunday School.

The goal of confirmation at Dennison and Vang to prepare students for a life of following Jesus. That is an exciting thing of which to be a part!

Upcoming events (parents nights)

You can be involved! Do you have a story or a skill to share? Do you like hanging out with middle school students? Contact Pastor Paul for information about confirmation ministry.

Sunday school

The goal of Sunday school is for kids to experience God’s love, learn the stories of faith, and to accompany families in including faith and faith practices in the home. There are many ways to be involved, such as room leader, room helper, guest speaker, opening skits, music, or snack provider.

Family Ministry Conversation and Planning

Every month, a group gathers for conversation about family ministry and to look ahead to upcoming events. You are welcome to join in. There is a time of conversation and planning about family ministry on the first Monday of the month at 6:00 at the Dennison church.

Family Nights

Dennison and Vang has intergenerational family nights once a month, generally on the last Sunday of the month. Sometimes for fun, sometimes for service, all are welcome.
